I am about to embark with two companions Lee and Josieon a very special pilgrimage, and this is where we will share our thoughts and experiences along the way. It's our 'plog' (pilgrim's blog) and we welcome you along for the journey.

Sadly Josie and I farewelled our very special accommodation at All Hallow's Guest House and headed for London in order to travel to Durham. From Cell to Cathedral - images of Julian
Norwich Cathedral is extraordinarily impressive with its Norman and Gothic Architecture however we were looking for evidence of Julian which we found in one of the panels of a stunning stained glass window of British saints including kings and founders of monasteries. Julian was the only woman represented. The modern statue in a niche near the West Porch was completed by sculptor David Holgate in 2000 to mark the new millenium. Arriving for Julian's feast day
Almost two years ago I made a promise to myself that I would come back to Norwich to celebrate Julian's Feast Day and I would stay on the site of her shrine at All Hallows Guest House. As Josie and I sat in Julian's Church bathed in sunlight preparing ourselves for the Solemn Feast Day Mass, tears filled my eyes and all I could say was Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Mixed Feelings
I guess all pilgrims set off with mixed feelings - there is sadness at leaving those you love behind, there is anxiety about travelling in our conflicted and troubled world, and there is anticipation that in a few days I will be in Julian's shrine in Norwich, celebrating her feast day. Cuthbert packs his bags
May I introduce (or reintroduce) Cuthbert my furry travelling companion who knows more about the Celtic Saints than I do. This time in 2024 Cuthbert traversed four countries in three continents visiting everyone from Brigid of Kildare to Thomas Merton. He even got to share a Flying Otter ale in Vancouver.
