CONVERSATIONS
I am very privileged to be invited by those seeking to grow in deeper understanding of their unique gifts and to discern the ways in which they are being drawn into relationship with God, (or whatever name you call the One who made you and holds you – the Divine, the Holy, Breath of Life, Essential Being or the One beyond all names).
Traditionally this relationship is called Spiritual Direction and the person who offers it is a Spiritual Director. However, for me that language does not reflect the nature of the process by which I accompany people in their spiritual journey. Instead, I think of this relationship as spiritual accompaniment.
Spiritual Accompaniment
With the grace of the Holy Spirit, I can hold the conversations we have and the questions that emerge. Everything we share is held in strict confidence. I am committed to creating safe places for this intensely personal sharing. Gentle acceptance of the other and their sense of what is happening in their lives characterizes our times together. Usually, we meet about once a month for an hour at a venue that works for both of us.
I leave it to the seeker who has approached me to name our relationship. Spiritual Accompaniment is the descriptor that works best for me.
Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life
If you are looking to take a deep dive into your life you might want to consider making a commitment to working with God through the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. These are structured as Four Weeks, although these are not calendar weeks, but rather a process that takes the person making the Exercises through a series of reflections which are tailored to meet their needs and developed to enable the Creator to engage directly with the created person.

You will negotiate with the person guiding the Exercises about when to meet, usually weekly, and payment options, the usual charge of $1800 can be paid monthly, quarterly, in full or another arrangement.

Where it is possible it can be helpful for the person making the Exercises to make a 3 to 5 day supported retreat to provide an orientation to the kinds of materials and possible ways of praying.
